Friday Night Party

Some serious guitar talent will be featured at our  party on Friday Night, July 28, at The Brown County Inn.  We will have many of our competitors rotating through the open mic stage, and Cari Ray & Chuck Wills providing some great tunes.  Like great music? “Listen Local” to these amazing artists!!

Saturday Competition

The competition will start at 11am, and will feature 20 of the best players in North America.  Each will take the stage to play two songs of their choice.  The final 5 competitors will be announced at the end of the afternoon competition.
Tickets to the competition are also good for the film at 2pm.

Acoustic Uprising Film Premiere

We are very proud to announce the US Premiere of the documentary Acoustic Uprising! Directed by Drew Roller, this film explores the innovative world of Acoustic FingerStyle guitar featuring interviews with many leading players including Andy McKee, Kaki King, Newton Faulkner and Tommy Emmanuel. The Acoustic Uprising looks at the rich history of FingerStyle and the fusion of musical ideas the style has become known for. The project was funded in 2015 on kickstarter.com and has been a 2 year journey for Melbourne based Roller Coaster Productions.

The film will start immediately after our Fingerstyle Guitar Competition on Saturday July 29th, at approximately 2pm.

Ticket-holders to the competition and evening concert will be able to get in with their event tickets. Contact the Brown County Playhouse box office for details.

We will feature the Top 3 Winners of the Fingerstyle Guitar Competition, and are proud to have three magnificent artists to finish the evening concert –   Jack Wilson, Brian Henke, and Michael Kelsey

(VIP ticket seating is reserved in 1st 4 rows, and includes a $40 voucher for future BC Playhouse events).

  • Jack Wilson 2017 Concert Performer

    Jack Wilson is an accomplished guitarist from the Chicagoland area. He is the 1st place winner of the 2016 International Fingerstyle Guitar Competition held at the Walnut Valley festival in Winfield, Kansas. (He placed 2nd in 2015.) This contest is considered, by many, the Olympics of fingerpicking.

  • Brian Henke 2017 Concert Performer

    Brian Henke is a world-renowned harp guitarist. He composes and performs his music like a painter putting images on canvas, drawing his inspiration from the world around him. His unique guitar style has been called everything from Folk to New Age to Neo-Classical to Pastoral or as Brian likes to call it “a big stewpot of everything, stirred up, simmered and served to taste.” His music appeals to anyone who like their music lyrical, thought provoking and performed with virtuosity.

  • Michael Kelsey 2017 Concert Performer

    Michael Kelsey – Michael is a rhythmic, inspired guitarist and performance artist who blends many musical genres with fervor and grace. When he hits the stage to perform, he plays every inch of his guitar pulling out every part of it or anything else an arm’s length or foot kick away.

Sunday Workshops

Learn serious guitar skills from some of the best players in the country! Jack, Brian, and Lance will teach you about everything from playing Harp Guitar, to beginning and advanced fingerstyle techniques. Jack can even show you how to make your guitar sound like a cow bell!

Classes are $20 each, and pre-registration for each session is recommended. Click the buttons to the right for schedule and signup form.

  • Lance Allen Workshop Instructor

    Lance Allen is an award winning fingerstyle guitarist, composer, and teacher. In 2008, Lance was inducted in the Thumbpickers Hall of Fame, located in Powderly KY. His induction was considered for his continuing the art of thumb style guitar by performing and teaching.  Not long after his induction, Lance competed in his first international guitar contest in Winfield, KS where he place a very difficult 4th place.
