Our Instructors

Brian Henke

His unique guitar style has been called everything from Folk to New Age to Neo-Classical to Pastoral or as Brian likes to call it “a big stewpot of everything, stirred up, simmered and served to taste.” His music appeals to anyone who like their music lyrical, thought provoking and performed with virtuosity. Through it all is an undercurrent of spirituality and mysticism that Brian says is very much apart of the creative process. Because of this he has received radio air play on shows as varied as WKSU’s “Folk Alley” and John Dilberto’s “Echoes”. He has also shared the bill on the concert stage with acts as diverse as Yes, Linda Ronstadt, Steve Morse, Yngvie Malmsteen, Robin and Linda Williams, Richie Havens, Christine Lavin, TheKingston Trio, Glen Yarborough, Alison Brown, Adrian Belew, Spiro Gyra and many of the best acoustic guitarists in the world including Pete Huttlinger, Alex DeGrassi, Stephen Bennett, John Doan, Beppe Gambetta, Dan Crary, Laurence Juber and many, many others.

A winner of many acoustic and electric guitar awards, he has also been a finalist in the prestigious National Fingerstyle Contest in Winfield, Kansas, the National Guitarmageddon regional finals in Boston and New Age Reporters Top 10 for 2006.

Jack Wilson won the Indiana State Fingerstyle Guitar competition in its first year – 2012.  Jack Wilson is an accomplished  guitarist  from the Chicagoland area. He is the 1st place winner of the 2016 International Fingerstyle Guitar Competition  held at the Walnut Valley festival in Winfield, Kansas. (He placed 2nd in 2015.) This contest is considered, by many, the Olympics of fingerpicking.  In addition, he has won seven other guitar contests as well as a bass contest. He currently freelances as a guitarist and bassist in bands, performs as a solo fingerstyle guitarist, teaches guitar and bass lessons, and on occasion, produces and engineers recording projects for other artists.

Lance Allen is an award winning fingerstyle guitarist, composer, and teacher. Native of Kentucky, Lance learned the ropes of playing guitar. Many of his early influences were Metallica, Nirvana, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Led Zeppelin, and Dave Matthews.

In 2008, Lance was inducted in the Thumbpickers Hall of Fame, located in Powderly KY. His induction was considered for his continuing the art of thumb style guitar by performing and teaching. Not long after his induction, Lance competed in his first international guitar contest in Winfield, KS where he place a very difficult 4th place. Lance has placed in the top 5 at the Indiana State Fingerstyle Guitar Festival, and Top 3 at the International Festival in 2015.
